A man from Wells has been sentenced to two years in prison for his involvement in the violent disorder in Bristol last month. Marc Donavon, 40, was one of four people sentenced today at Bristol Crown Court.

Donavon was captured on CCTV throwing objects at police officers and vehicles during the unrest on 3 August. The court also heard that he attempted to kick another person, lunged at a cyclist, and threw water at a second cyclist.

Bristol Crown Court heard Lock became "embroiled" in the disorder and was involved at its "height" by joining the "violent mob" outside the Mercure Hotel.

In addition to Donavon, Thomas Medler, 24, from Lockleaze, Daniel Lock, 31, from Kingswood, and a 15-year-old boy were also sentenced for their roles in the disorder. Medler, described by the judge as being "front and centre" of the violence, was given a 34-month prison sentence for violent disorder and an additional eight months for breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Lock was sentenced to two years, while the 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, received a four-month detention and training order for his part in the events.

Detective Chief Inspector Tom Herbert said: "Sixteen people have now been given custodial sentences for their involvement in the shameful violent disorder in Bristol last month. We will continue to pursue those responsible."

So far, 44 people have been arrested in connection with the disorder, with 30 charged. The police investigation remains ongoing.
