A courtyard garden at Wells City Practice is set for a makeover after a patient left money to help fund improvements at the surgery. The five-day project will begin at Priory Health Park on Monday, 10 August, and is due to finish on Friday, 14 August.

The work will mean a little more disruption than usual for people visiting the practice during the week. Because the courtyard can only be reached through the waiting room, landscapers will need to carry materials and equipment along the corridors used by patients.

Part of the waiting room will also be temporarily sectioned off while the work is under way. The practice said clear signs would be put in place to guide visitors safely around the building and that it would try to keep inconvenience to a minimum.

The improvements have been made possible by a bequest left to Wells City Practice by one of its patients. The practice has not named the patient or disclosed the value of the gift, but described the gesture as "very kind" and said it was grateful for the support.

Staff hope the project will create a more attractive courtyard for patients and visitors to look out on from the waiting room. The full design has not yet been revealed, with the practice saying it plans to share the finished result once the work is complete.

Anyone attending the surgery between Monday and Friday should allow for the temporary arrangements inside the waiting area. Further updates can be found through Wells City Practice.
