Wells community groups offered grants of up to £500
By Laura Linham 6th Aug 2026
Community groups in Wells could receive up to £500 towards projects benefiting the city, with the next funding deadline now less than a month away. Wells City Council is inviting applications from voluntary organisations and other local groups before Tuesday, 1 September.
The community grant scheme is intended to support organisations carrying out work for people in Wells. Applicants will need to explain what their project involves, how it will benefit the city and why financial support is required.
A maximum of £500 is available for each successful bid in the forthcoming round and previous awards show the range of projects the scheme can support. In March 2026, The Bishop's Palace received £190 towards a wheelchair-accessible bench, according to information published by the council.
Groups considering an application should read the full policy and provide the requested information before submitting their bid.
Proposals sent without enough detail could leave councillors unable to judge the project's financial position or potential benefit to Wells.
The deadline for the next round is Tuesday, 1 September 2026.
The criteria and application form are available through the Wells City Council community grants page.
