A focus on sustainability and reducing waste takes centre stage in Wells as a series of environment-friendly events are slated to take place across the city this upcoming weekend.
On Saturday, July 1st, residents are invited to St Thomas Church Hall to participate in a unique Repair Café.
The event, running from 10 am to 12 pm, gathers skilled repairers who will strive to fix broken items brought in by attendees. Patrons can sit back, enjoy a cup of tea, and potentially save their cherished items from ending up in the landfill.
On the same day, from 10.30 am to 2.30 pm, the Portway Annexe will host a launch event for 'A Year of Living Sustainably'. This initiative is a collaborative effort with Wells Environment Network, aimed at encouraging a shift towards more sustainable practices within the community. Attendees will have a chance to learn about exciting projects such as the clothing swopshop and the community fridge.
Capping off the weekend on Sunday, July 2nd, the Good Earth Car Park will become the venue for a Freecycle event. In line with the sustainability theme, attendees are encouraged to bring along items they no longer need and may pick up something they do. This recycle-and-reuse event begins at 1 pm, with the last cars for donations accepted at 1.30 pm.
The Wells Sustainability Weekend promises to be a great opportunity for residents to engage in sustainable living, emphasizing reducing, reusing, and repairing to make a positive environmental impact.
