Get your forks at the ready, Wells Food Festival is coming to town this Sunday, October 13, from 10.30am to 4.30pm and with free entry.

The Artisan Market has always been at the heart of the festival, and it is stronger than ever this year with more than 175 of the county's finest artisan producers and street food sellers taking stalls.

There is plenty of award-winning produce to taste. The Somerset companies that received three stars at the national 2019 Great Taste Awards are all attending: White Lake with their local Guernsey milk cheese, Morn Dew; Bumblees Preserves and their Wild Blueberry, Pink Peppercorn and Thyme Vinegar; and Worley's Cider with their Special Reserve Keeved Cider, which also won the prestigious Golden Fork Heritage Award.

For a behind-the-scenes look at food, head over to the Charlie Bigham's Discovery Zone in the Recreation Ground.

With a dairy focus, Shepton Vets will be on hand to explain how they help farmers keep cows happy and productive while Coombes Micro Dairy will have farm fresh milk samples. There are tips on yoghurt making from The Collective, as well as cheese and butter-making.

Somerset Waste Partnership has lots of practical advice on how to make the most of your food and cut waste, while in the Bath and West Farmyard, agricultural activities and farm animals are on hand to help bring farming practices to life.

There is so much happening at this year's festival. A new interactive Children's Trail provides a fun, family-friendly way to explore the site.

Visit the festival stand on the Green and pick up a picture trail for little ones and a quiz trail for the bigger kids.
