The Wells Food Festival took place yesterday and it couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere.

The Mediterranean sun was beaming down, warming the 10,000 festival-goers and adding an extra zest to the foodie event.

With a backdrop of music from Wells Cathedral choir and the Millfield Music School choir, as well as the toe-tapping tunes of the Harlem Rhythm Cats, it was a day of pure sensory delight.

The musical offerings didn't just stop at choirs. A brass band added a sense of pomp and ceremony to the proceedings, situated conveniently near the bandstand for maximum enjoyment.

Foodies also got the chance to meet local producers such as Feltham's Farm and were excited to try their 'Best in Show' cheese named "La Fresca Margarita." The event also had beverages sorted with Ali from Drinks Kitchen offering a "grapefruit piquante," and Emily from @Asrawas providing bars of sustaining dark chocolate for the journey home.

Charlie Bigham's, the headline sponsor for the fourth year running, introduced a unique element to this year's festival with the world's first plate-spinning championship.

It aimed to recognise people's everyday multitasking challenges, especially as the busy autumn season kicks in. The championship included demonstrations, workshops, and prizes across all age groups. The ultimate prize? A year's supply of Charlie Bigham's meals.

To give back to the community, Charlie Bigham's donated leftover meals to Help for Homeless, a charity which provides food for about 150 people each week across Bristol, Bath, Yeovil, and Taunton.

Wells Food Festival, which began in 2013, has grown substantially over the years. It started with just 30 producers and now welcomes up to 200, boasting an annual footfall of around 15,000 visitors. It's a community interest company, run by volunteers for the benefit of the local community.
