No Wells businesses have been named among the finalists for the Somerset Business Awards 2026, following the publication of this year's shortlist by Somerset Chamber of Commerce.

The finalists were announced after a county-wide judging process, with judges visiting businesses, charities and organisations across Somerset before making their final decisions. The awards, now in their 21st year, recognise achievement across a wide range of sectors.

While Wells is not represented on the shortlist this year, nearby towns have secured finalist places. Shepton Mallet features through Haskins Furniture, which has been shortlisted in both the Service Excellence Award and the Business Resilience and Growth Award categories.

Glastonbury is also represented, with The Sleek Easy Clean named as a finalist in the Medium Business of the Year category. The company provides professional exterior cleaning services, including roofs, render and hard surfaces, and also offers specialist bio-hazard cleaning. This includes the remediation of potentially dangerous biological contaminants such as blood and bodily fluids, often following accidents, crime scenes or unattended deaths, with each project handled with sensitivity and care.

The Somerset Business Awards are supported once again by main sponsor Albert Goodman. The 2026 grand final will take place at the Bath & West Showground on Thursday, 26 March, and will be hosted by BBC Points West Business Correspondent Dave Harvey.

David Crew, managing director of Somerset Chamber of Commerce, said the judging process had been particularly competitive, with strong entries received despite challenging trading conditions.

He said the awards continued to provide an opportunity to highlight the work being carried out by businesses and charities across Somerset, even where not every town is represented in the final shortlist.

Winners will be announced at the March awards ceremony.
