Roads near Wells will be closed next week for filming, but the production behind the project has not been publicly named. Somerset Council has issued a temporary traffic regulation order covering roads in Priddy and Wookey on Friday, 19 June, Monday, 22 June, and Tuesday, 23 June.

The order is titled "Various Roads, Wells (Filming)", although the affected roads are in the parishes of Priddy and Wookey rather than Wells itself. The closures are scheduled to run between 6 am and 10 pm on the listed dates.

In Priddy, Minery Road, also known as Old Bristol Road, will be closed along its entire length on Friday, 19 June. In Wookey, High Street will be closed between its junction with North Road and its junction with Doctors Hill on Monday, 22 June, and Tuesday, 23 June.

Church Road in Wookey will also be closed for its entire length on Monday, 22 June, and Tuesday, 23 June. The order states that the restrictions are required for filming and will only apply when indicated by traffic signs.

No details about the production company or the nature of the filming are included in the order. Somerset Council has not publicly identified the project involved in the latest filming activity.

The closures will not apply to emergency service vehicles, police-directed traffic or vehicles connected with managing the event. The temporary order was sealed on Friday, 5 June, and comes into force on the dates listed in the schedules.

Wells and the surrounding area have become familiar to location crews in recent years. Wells Cathedral and Wookey Hole have both featured in film and television productions, making the area a regular draw for screen work.
