Wells duo to perform at Glastonbury Festival 2019
By Guest 16th Jul 2021
A Wells songwriting duo are performing at this year's Glastonbury Festival following the release of a successful single earlier in 2019 that used video selfies of real people up and down the country singing the song's title, Harmonise, into their phones.
Lorraine and Jeremy Millington, a.k.a The Portraits, whose 2017 tribute song for Jo Cox MP was championed by Clare Balding on BBC Radio 2, put out an appeal on social media for the public to contribute to the new song, a call for unity during these troubled times, and were inundated with entries.
Following the single's success, the duo have been invited to perform several times in the Green Futures area of the festival, part of Glastonbury dedicated to improving our attitude towards the planet and to bringing people together.
Songwriter Lorraine said: "The response to our call-out for our single Harmonise was incredible, and the invitation to perform now at Glastonbury is an enormous honour.
"Our songs are all about healing divisions and building a brighter future for the world and its peoples and that very much chimes with the spirit of the festival... so it's a brilliant match."
The Portraits are performing at the following times: SMALL WORLD Friday 28th June, 1.15pm; MANDALA Saturday 29th June. Midnight, i.e. start of Sunday morning; TOAD HALL Sunday 30th June. 1.00pm.
