Wells Da Luciano’s closes as new pizzeria prepares to open
By Laura Linham 21st Apr 2026
A new pizzeria is set to open on Broad Street in Wells after the closure of long-running restaurant Da Luciano Pizzeria.
The family behind the site says it will reopen as Nonna Lina's Pizzeria, with plans to open within the next week.
Angelina Raso confirmed the closure in a message to customers, saying the lease came to an end at the close of March and that, following Luciano's death in February 2023, she had decided it was the right time to step away from the pizzeria.
She thanked customers for their support over the years and said she had "the fondest of memories" of working with Luciano and welcoming people through the doors.
But the site is not expected to stay closed for long.
Cassie Raso and her husband, Silvio, will be taking over the business under a new name, Nonna Lina's Pizzeria, which the family hope to open within the next week.
Da Luciano's had become a familiar name in Wells over several decades. The restaurant was established in April 1990 and built a loyal local following, with many customers returning for both takeaway and sit-down meals.
