Wells residents will soon see familiar sights on their screens as the latest season of the BBC's acclaimed historical drama Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light premieres this Sunday, 10th November, at 9pm on BBC1.

The new season, filmed partly in Wells earlier this year, brings the city's iconic architecture back into the spotlight.

Filming took place around Wells Cathedral in March, with Somerset Council implementing parking suspensions and road closures to accommodate the production. The series, based on Hilary Mantel's novels, chronicles the rise and eventual fall of Thomas Cromwell, one of Tudor England's most influential figures. Returning cast members include Mark Rylance as Cromwell and Damian Lewis as Henry VIII, alongside notable actors like Sir Jonathan Pryce and Kate Phillips, ensuring a compelling continuation of the story.

Local residents are especially excited to see Wells featured once again, as the series' earlier instalments showcased the city's historic settings to an international audience. With Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light, viewers can expect stunning visuals and gripping drama set against the backdrop of Tudor intrigue.

Don't miss the premiere this Sunday, where Wells will shine on screen once more in this eagerly awaited sequel. For those who have been following Cromwell's journey, it's a chance to delve deeper into his turbulent final years while appreciating the familiar local scenery. Tune in to catch a piece of Wells history on national television.
