Wells Cathedral Cider and Cheese Festival to return
By Laura Linham 25th Jun 2026
Wells Cathedral's Cider and Cheese Festival is back, bringing West Country cider, cheese and produce into one of Somerset's most striking settings.
The festival will take place inside Wells Cathedral on Saturday, 26 September 2026. Ticket holders will be able to sample cider from across the South West, taste cheese and local produce, and enjoy the event inside the historic cathedral.
Organisers say the festival is a chance for people from across the county and beyond to come together and celebrate what makes the South West unique. The event will also raise funds to support the cathedral and help keep it open to visitors, worshippers and the wider community.
Wells Cathedral dates from the late 12th century and is the seat of the Bishop of Bath and Wells. At the southern tip of the Mendip Hills, the cathedral is renowned for its Gothic architecture and is described by the cathedral as a centre for heritage, worship, music and creativity.
The cathedral has been inspiring congregations, pilgrims and visitors for nearly 850 years. It is a registered charity and says it receives no regular government funding and limited funding from the Church of England.
Income from admissions, donations, events and sponsorship helps preserve the cathedral for future generations. The Cider and Cheese Festival is one of the events supporting that work while bringing a properly Somerset flavour to the nave.
