The 5th/7th Wells Scout Group has received a boost to its fundraising efforts, thanks to a generous £784 donation from Wells Carnival Club.

The funds, raised through Carnival collections, were presented to the Scout Group by Mayor of Wells, Councillor Jasmine Browne, whose chosen charity this year is focused on supporting the much-loved youth organisation.

The money will go towards refurbishing the Scout Hut in Kennion Road, which is in urgent need of repairs. More than 100 young people from Wells use the hut every week, taking part in screen-free activities, team-building games, and learning essential life skills.

Speaking about the donation, the Mayor said she was delighted to see the community coming together to support such an important cause.

"The Scout Group plays a huge role in our city, giving young people opportunities to develop confidence, teamwork, and practical skills. This donation from Wells Carnival Club will make a real difference in helping to create a safe and welcoming space for them," she said.

The fundraising efforts for the Scout Hut refurbishment are ongoing, with the Mayor encouraging further support from the local community.
