Wells Carnival has raised £11,710.69 despite torrential rain on the night of the event, organisers have confirmed.
The total, finalised after the bank completed its count, includes £7,620 in full collection bags, £3,062.93 in notes and loose change, a £25 donation and £1,003.76 from QR code payments.
Although down on last year's record‑breaking £17,803.72 total, organisers said the amount was better than expected given the heavy rain that soaked the procession.
The 2025 figure beats the event's ten‑year average of £11,000. Foreign coins are still to be processed, meaning the final sum could rise further.
Organisers thanked the public for turning out in "conditions more suited to wild swimming than carnival season" and praised their generosity despite the weather.
Wells is one of the key stops in the Somerset carnival circuit, which includes nearby towns such as Shepton Mallet and Glastonbury.
