A popular café in the grounds of Wells' historic Bishop's Palace has landed a national award for excellence in food, service and visitor experience.
The Bishop's Table café was handed the 2025 VisitEngland Quality Food & Drink Accolade after inspectors praised the warm welcome, locally-sourced menus and overall quality.
The annual assessment ranks cafés inside visitor attractions across England, rewarding the best performers based on a full mystery‑visit review.
Rachel Harrison, Head of Catering at The Palace Trust, said: "We're absolutely thrilled. Our staff always go the extra mile to offer a warm welcome and delicious, locally‑sourced food and drink." She added the award comes after new additions this year including Sunday roasts, a Secret Supper Club and fresh afternoon teas.
The café is open daily and offers views of the croquet lawn and palace grounds, right in the heart of Wells.
