Wells Blue School art students join cathedral exhibition
By Laura Linham 11th Jun 2026
Three A Level art students from The Blue School in Wells have joined the team preparing for this year's Wells Art Contemporary exhibition. Grace Temple, Nana Preston and Amanda Lewis will work as interns ahead of the international art show at Wells Cathedral in October.
The students will work alongside artists, curators and organisers as the exhibition takes shape in one of the city's most distinctive venues. The placement is designed to give them first-hand experience of how a major contemporary art exhibition is staged.
Wells Art Contemporary presents work by UK and international artists, with site-specific installations placed throughout Wells Cathedral. The exhibition also includes painting, sculpture, drawing, photography and film in the cathedral cloisters.
Organisers say the internship reflects an ongoing commitment to supporting emerging talent and creating meaningful opportunities for young people to gain practical experience in the arts. For the three Blue School students, it means a close-up look at everything from exhibition planning to the demands of presenting work in a historic public space.
Paddy O'Hagan, chair of Wells Art Contemporary, said: "We are delighted to welcome Grace, Nana and Amanda to the team. The perspective and energy they bring are an important part of the exhibition and we are pleased to offer them the opportunity to be closely involved in how it all comes together."
This year's Wells Art Contemporary exhibition will run at Wells Cathedral from Friday, 10 October to Friday, 7 November. More information is available from Wells Art Contemporary.
