Wells Bishop’s Palace unveils Christmas illuminations theme
By Laura Linham 15th Oct 2026
Golden rings, milkmaids and swans-a-swimming will feature in this year's Christmas illuminations at The Bishop's Palace in Wells. The displays will run from Tuesday, 1 December, to Sunday, 3 January, excluding 24, 25, 26 and 31 December.
The 12 Days of Christmas theme will extend through the Palace and gardens, with illuminated installations accompanied by classical music. New for this year, the trail will continue inside the Palace, where rooms will feature festive displays and decorations incorporating flowers dried from its gardens.
Local choirs and musicians will perform on weekend evenings. Visitors will also be able to buy mulled wine, mince pies and festive hot chocolate, with the garden café serving seasonal food and drink each evening.
The Undercroft bar will open on weekend evenings, providing an indoor place to stop during a visit. Tickets and timed entry slots can be booked through The Bishop's Palace website.
