Somerset publisher March Hamilton has announced Wells author Beth Webb as one of the judges for its Worlds From Home lockdown writing competition.

The competition aims to get young people between eight and 16 writing creatively during the lockdown period.

Entries can be up to 500 words of any type of writing and winners will be published in an anthology, with a percentage of profits being donated to charity. This comes after March Hamilton re-launched under new leadership two years ago.

"This is a great opportunity for young people to engage in something creative during a stressful time," said Beth.

"I've spoken to plenty of parents who are struggling with getting their kids to engage with learning during the lockdown.

"Imaginative work like this is a brilliant way to reinvigorate young minds and also give them something new to focus on while the country remains in lockdown."

The Dragons of Kilve author brings expertise from her time as a judge for the BBC 500 words competition in addition to a wealth of experience as a writer and storyteller.

The Worlds From Home competition runs until tomorrow (May 22). The entry form and terms and conditions can be found at marchhamilton.com/competition.
