October is shaping up to be an exciting month in Wells, with many activities and events lined up to keep residents and visitors entertained.

Whether you're a history buff, an Elvis Presley fan, or looking for spooky Halloween adventures, there is something for everyone.

One of the major attractions this month is at Wookey Hole Caves, which transforms into the 'Home of Halloween' from October 21 to 29. This family-friendly event uniquely celebrates the spooky season, set against the mysterious backdrop of the Wookey Hole Caves and the Mill on High Street in Wookey Hole. Not only will there be cave tours, but you can also expect a variety of Halloween-themed activities for everyone to enjoy.

Book enthusiasts have something to look forward to as well. On October 21, Wells Cathedral will host the 'Books & Chains' library tour. This is a chance to delve deep into historical literature as the tour explores the cathedral's library, allowing attendees to discover rare and ancient books that have withstood the test of time. The event starts at 10:30 a.m. and goes until noon, providing ample time to get lost in the world of antiquated literature.

But that's not all that Wells Cathedral is offering this weekend. In the evening of the same day, the cathedral will host 'JD King: Elvis by Candlelight', starting at 7:30 p.m. JD King will serenade attendees with some of Elvis Presley's greatest hits, all set to the atmospheric backdrop of Wells Cathedral illuminated by candlelight. It promises to be a magical evening for Elvis fans and music lovers alike.

For those who enjoy a touch of the supernatural, Wookey Hole Caves also hosts a 'Ghost Hunt' on the night of October 21, extending into October 22. For brave souls who dare to explore, this is the perfect opportunity to delve into the darker side of the caves' history and perhaps even encounter some of its resident spirits.

Adding a musical touch to the month's events, Cedars Hall on The Liberty will be the venue for 'Crossing Borders Recording' from October 22 to 25. These sessions aim to showcase diverse musical genres, offering something for every music aficionado to enjoy.

Lastly, if you're looking for a more laid-back way to spend your weekend, Christ Church on Main Road in Coxley has you covered with their 'Sunday Brunch' on October 22. Starting at 10:30 a.m., it's a wonderful way to relax and unwind, surrounded by the local community.

And don't forget, if you're in the mood for a film, Wells Film Centre is offering all the latest movies for a ticket price of just £5.

So whether it's exploring haunted caves, listening to soulful melodies, or simply enjoying good food and films, Wells has an October packed with activities that offer something for everyone.
