Strictly-style dementia-friendly party brings music, fun and laughter to Crandon Springs Care Home

By Ruth Cooke   21st Oct 2025

It was "ten from Len" all round at Crandon Springs Care Home in Wells, where residents, staff and visitors took to the floor for a dementia-friendly party inspired by the spirit of Strictly Come Dancing!

The lively afternoon was full of dancing, singing and laughter, complete with a cheerful game of pass the parcel and fantastic live entertainment from performer Jan MacNeil, who soon had everyone joining in the fun. Sequins or not, the moves were dazzling and the smiles said it all.

The event was designed to boost wellbeing, connection and stimulation for residents living with dementia, creating an inclusive and uplifting atmosphere for everyone. The home's lounge was filled with music, movement and joy, with photos from the day showing just how much fun everyone had.

Meg Cleal, Care Home Manager at Crandon Springs, said: "It was a truly heart-warming afternoon - seeing residents, families, visitors and staff dancing and singing together was wonderful. Events like this really highlight the sense of community and joy we have here at Crandon Springs. We're grateful to Jan MacNeil for her fantastic performance and to everyone who helped make the afternoon so special."

And as the autumn nights draw in and the nation settles down to watch Strictly Come Dancing, the Crandon Springs team has one clear message for everyone: "Keep dancing!" It's great fun, great exercise, and guaranteed to lift the spirits.

Crandon Springs Care Home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK's largest care providers.
