St Margaret’s Hospice invites supporters to take on their Snowdon at Night Challenge

St Margaret's Hospice Care is inviting supporters to participate in an unforgettable overnight climb of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) to help raise vital funds to provide expert care in Somerset.

The trek will begin around midnight at the base of Snowdon - the highest mountain in England and Wales standing at 1,085 metres above sea level. The team will make their way to the summit before starting the descent to watch the sun rise over Wales and enjoy a well-earned breakfast. When night falls, the world feels different, and for many people living with life-limiting illness night can feel extremely hard. At St Margaret's Hospice, clinical teams are there through every night, quietly, compassionately and without pause.

"The night can be the hardest time for some of our patients. Worries can feel heavier, pain can become more intense, and loneliness can set in. That's why our night staff are there – to offer reassurance, comfort and companionship, and to make sure no one has to face the darkness alone." Nicole Durman, Registered Nurse at St Margaret's.

St Margaret's Snowdon Challenge will mirror their nurses' work, requiring perseverance, compassion, and being there when it matters.

By joining the Challenge and raising money for St Margaret's, participants can help the hospice fund specialist overnight care, their nurse-led 24/7 Advice Line, and compassionate support for patients, families and carers.

This Challenge is organised in partnership with Charity Challenge, an experienced provider of fundraising adventures across the UK and overseas. Hayley Milne, Head of Communications at the hospice, took part in the hospice's 58km Icelandic Trek in 2025 last year. "Our Icelandic Trek was tough, but no matter how hard it felt in the moment, it was nothing compared to the daily challenges faced by individuals living with life-limiting illnesses and their families. It tested our bodies and our resolve, but it also reminded us of the strength, dignity, and resilience shown every day by those St Margaret's cares for. I would encourage anyone to join our Snowdon At Night Challenge – it's a great opportunity to get to know new people, share stories and take on a challenge, all whilst raising much-needed funds for St Margaret's Hospice."

Participants will receive a training plan, kit, fundraising pack and more information about what to expect during the Challenge – to learn more or sign up, please visit https://www.st-margarets-hospice.org.uk/event/snowdon-at-night-challenge .
