What's On in Wells is brought to you by our sponsors, Studio24 in Wells and Wells Festival of Literature.

Forget mowing the lawn or reorganising the junk drawer – Wells has a weekend lined up that deserves your attention. Whether you're into rare gardens, big organ energy, community choirs or just a decent slice of cake, there's something happening to tempt you out of the house. And if you're already planning your next night out? We've got you covered there too.

Ease your way into the weekend early with a Thursday night win: Burger Night at The Loft in Street. From 6–8pm you'll get any burger, chips, salad and a drink for £15. Ideal pre-weekend fuel or a cheat-night dinner before heading out. No judgement here.

Things kick off properly on Saturday 21 June, starting in Glastonbury where St Benedict's Church is hosting its friendly Repair Café from 10am to 12 noon. Bring along something broken and see if their brilliant volunteers can give it a new lease of life — while you enjoy cake and a cuppa, naturally.

Back in Wells, it's a garden lover's dream. The Rib — the one with its own cathedral and sacred well — opens for just one day a year, and it's this Saturday. You've got between 12 noon and 5pm to explore this compact but historically mighty garden as part of the National Garden Scheme, raising money for charity.

Also opening its doors for one day only is Crandon Springs Care Home. Head over for live music, home-baked cake, and a chance to tour the home and meet the team. You can book ahead or drop in, depending on how your Saturday unfolds.

Later on, Wells Town Hall is hosting The Chorus of Disapproval's summer concertSummer in the City. It kicks off at 7:30pm with tickets available on the door (just £7 or £5 concessions). Expect toe-tapping numbers, bar open, and special guests The Cranford Ukulele Collective.

Sunday 22 June brings a mix of sports, music, and even more gardens. Over at Wells Tennis Club, young players will be competing in the Grade 5 LTA tournament — perfect for anyone new to competitive tennis.

If your idea of Sunday leisure involves more pews and pipes, St Cuthbert's Church in Wells is the place to be. Internationally renowned organist Margaret Phillips will be performing on the Tudor Wingfield organ (yes, really) and the church organ. Bach, Bolt and tea with cake in the interval — very civilised indeed.

Meanwhile, over in Chilcompton, the village is throwing open its gates for the Chilcompton Open Gardens event — the first one in 20 years. Wander from one garden to the next, enjoy homemade scones, and pick up some tips (or envy) along the way. Tickets are £6 from the village hall.

Looking slightly ahead — Ferne Animal Sanctuary in Chard is hosting a Charity Insights Morning on Tuesday 24 June for those working in funeral, legal or financial services. Think legacy giving, networking and an actual tour of the sanctuary.

And finally, if you're already planning your next big night out: Latino Heatwave Night at Studio24 is coming to Wells on Saturday 5 July. DJs YOUS and MJADE will be serving up a non-stop mix of Afrobeats, Amapiano, Dancehall, RnB and club bangers from 10pm. Smart dress only, no sportswear — and yes, tickets are already flying.

So whether you're into gardens or reggaeton, vintage organs or very good burgers, there's something going on for everyone. Just maybe leave a little room for cake.
