The music of The Beautiful South is set to return to the stage in Wells this spring, as nine-piece band The South bring their UK tour to Studio 24.

Led by original members Alison Wheeler and Gaz Birtles, The South will perform in Wells on Thursday 9 May, with a setlist including fan favourites such as A Little Time, Perfect 10 and Rotterdam.

Formed after The Beautiful South disbanded in 2007, The South have spent more than 15 years performing across theatres and festivals throughout the UK, continuing the legacy of one of the 1990s' most successful chart acts.

Since the departure of original vocalist Dave Hemingway in 2016, Gaz Birtles has stepped into a frontman role alongside Wheeler. The current line-up also features Gareth John, who joins the duo on vocals.

A spokesperson for the band said the show promises "the full sound and arrangements" of the songs that defined the band's 18-year run, which began in 1989.
