Full programme revealed for 2025 Wells Festival of Literature

The full programme for this year's Wells Festival of Literature has been announced, with a broad line-up of writers, broadcasters and thinkers confirmed for the nine-day event this October.
Running from 17 to 25 October, the festival will feature best-selling novelists, TV personalities, and experts in fields including science, current affairs and sport. Full event listings are now available at www.wellsfestivalofliterature.org.uk.
Priority booking opens on Monday 28 July for Friends of the Festival, giving early access to popular events and discounted tickets at £10 each (standard price £12.50). General booking begins a week later on Monday 4 August. It's still possible to become a Friend to take advantage of early access and reduced prices.
Among the highlights expected to sell out quickly are the Festival's popular literary lunches at Cedars Hall—informal, sociable events held either side of selected talks. This year's series opens with historian Midge Gillies, who tells the gripping true story of six women vying to become the first to fly solo across the Atlantic.
Other featured speakers at these sessions include gardener Carol Klein, reflecting on her life in horticulture; journalist and author Lucy Mangan, discussing her passion for reading; and environmentalist James Canton, offering practical ways to rewild even the smallest spaces.
Festival brochures will be available at local venues, including Wells Waterstones, by the end of July. For event dates, speaker listings and booking information, visit the Festival website.
