Cake, coffee and possibly the return of dog fudge are on the menu as a Wells veterinary practice prepares for its fifth annual Macmillan Coffee Morning.

Nub News sponsor Nurture will open its doors for the fundraiser from 10 am to 4 pm on Friday, 9 October, with staff turning their baking skills towards raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The team says baking is something of a strength among staff, with tables expected to be packed with homemade cakes and treats throughout the day.

Last year even the four-legged visitors got a look-in, when nurse Emma made a batch of dog fudge. The practice says local dog walkers are welcome to make Nurture a stop on their walk while their owners tackle the cake table.

Visitors will be able to grab a cup of tea or coffee, choose a slice — or two — and chat with members of the Nurture team while helping support Macmillan.

The Wells practice, formerly Westfield Vets, is based at The Old Engine Shed on Westfield Road and provides veterinary care alongside a 24-hour small animal hospital.

This year's event will be the fifth Macmillan Coffee Morning held by the practice, with everyone welcome to drop in during the day.

Nurture said: "Our brilliant bakers will be busy filling the tables with plenty of homemade cakes and treats, all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Macmillan Coffee Morning takes place at Nurture in Wells from 10 am until 4 pm on Friday, 9 October.
