Somerset Council has warned that some recycling collections may be disrupted today in Wells, Street, Glastonbury, Taunton and Wellington.

The council said crews may be unable to reach everyone in the affected towns and surrounding villages. Residents whose recycling is missed have been asked to leave their boxes, bags and bins out, with crews expected to return tomorrow, Saturday, to collect from any roads not reached today.

The disruption comes during a week when collections are already running a day later than usual following the Easter bank holiday.

Anyone whose collection is missed can check their details and report it online through Somerset Council's missed collection service.

The latest update means some households due a Friday recycling collection may now have to wait until Saturday if crews cannot get to them today.
