Christmas can be a lonely time of year, but at noon on Christmas Day, people started arriving at Heads Up in South Horrington, for a time of festive fun.
Greeted with a glass of bubbly and a warm welcome, people who would otherwise be by themselves for Christmas Day celebrated in style.
"I've had this idea for a while," said Jean Moakes of Wells Rotary Club, "and this year, with the help of some friends from Rotary, we've done it."
Local shops and hotels donated food, drink and decorations. Members of Wells Rotary Club, staff at Heads Up and their families gave up their time to prepare the Christmas lunch and provide entertainment.
Local chef Paul Jeffrey and his son, Max, prepared the food. Even Father Christmas
heard about it and brought a sack full of presents for everyone. After an afternoon that was enjoyed by all, guests returned home with magic memories. And for 2020? "Watch this space..." said Jean. Wells Rotary Club would like to thank everyone who helped make this such a special Christmas Day by giving their time and by providing the ingredients.
