Lively tunes and traditional games light up care home's pop-up pub

Residents living on the Memory Lane community at Crandon Springs Care Home in Wells enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon of traditional pub games, drinks and pub snacks when parts of the home were transformed into a welcoming local pub, `The Crandon Arms`.
The `pop-up pub` included a bar room complete with a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including wine, beer, cider and lemonade, alongside classic pub snacks such as bread rolls and crisps. Favourite pub songs played on the television, creating a lively atmosphere that encouraged residents to sing along, reminisce and socialise.
The fun extended throughout the community with traditional pub games including giant Jenga, magnetic darts and skittles. For residents who preferred to stay in their rooms, the celebrations came to them, with care staff delivering drinks and bringing magnetic darts for everyone to enjoy.
Adding to the authentic experience, one of Crandon's Springs' Dementia Care Champions, Liza, took on the role of landlady for the afternoon, while other members of the team enthusiastically got involved, helping to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere full of laughter.
Crandon Springs Care Home Manager, Darius Ivana, said: "Our pub afternoon was a wonderful opportunity for residents to socialise and reminisce, enjoy familiar music and games, and have fun together. We always look for creative ways to promote wellbeing and social connection, and it was wonderful to see everyone getting involved. A huge thank you to Liza and the team for bringing the pub experience to life."
