Police are stepping up patrols near The Blue School in Wells following concerns about speeding on Wookey Hole Road and Ash Lane, particularly during school drop-off and pick-up times.

Local residents and parents have raised fears about vehicles travelling too fast near the school, prompting officers to monitor traffic at peak times in a bid to improve safety.

The local beat team has also been working closely with The Blue School to explore ways to reduce speeds and encourage safer driving habits in the area.

A spokesperson for the beat team said: "We understand the concerns of parents, staff, and local residents regarding speeding near the school. We are actively monitoring the situation and working with The Blue School to find practical solutions to keep students and pedestrians safe."

Police are urging drivers to slow down and be mindful of children and pedestrians.
