Businesses in Wells have reported an increase in shop thefts, including several high-value incidents, prompting police to meet with shop owners to discuss the issue.

The local beat team has been engaging with those affected to explore potential solutions and encourage greater collaboration between businesses and law enforcement.

Officers are urging anyone who has experienced or witnessed a shop theft to come forward.

A police spokesperson said: "We are working closely with local businesses to address concerns around shoplifting and will continue to support efforts to prevent further incidents. If you have any information or have been affected by shop theft, please report it by calling 101."

Residents and business owners can also report incidents online via the Avon and Somerset Police website.
