Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to trace after a woman was assaulted and had a bike thrown at her in Wells.

The attack happened on South Street at about 10.20am on Friday, 20 June. A witness said a man was seen grabbing the woman's clothes aggressively before hurling a bike towards her. The woman was then spotted running down Guardhouse Lane, with the man following moments later.

Police are now trying to identify the man pictured, who is described as white, in his 20s, roughly 5ft 10ins tall, and was wearing a blue T‑shirt, black jogging bottoms, a grey beanie hat and Nike Air Jordan trainers. He was also seen with a silver‑framed bike.

House‑to‑house inquiries have been conducted, and police say the man pictured may have information that could help their investigation. They also want to trace the woman involved to ensure she is safe and well.

Anyone with information is urged to call 101 and give the reference number 5225172220 or complete the online appeals form.
