WELLS Art Contemporary (WAC) is holding its exclusive international exhibition of shortlisted works of art at Wells Cathedral from July 20 to August 11.

If anyone would be interested in a unique opportunity to become a voluntary steward for the exhibition, Paddy O'Hagan, chair of WAC, would be delighted to hear from them.

The WAC exhibition is part of the Cathedral's policy of social and community engagement and is set to be a key part of the calendar. It will take place during the summer period when Wells is at its busiest, with more than 20,000 people expected to visit the Cathedral.

The role of the steward is to provide a warm welcome to visitors and ensure they get the most from their visit to the exhibition. An appreciation of art is helpful but not essential as all stewards will receive full training during the week leading up to the opening.

The rewards are plenty. All stewards will be invited to the sparkling Private View during the evening of Friday, July 19. Not only will they be part of an exciting and influential international art exhibition, they will also have the privilege of working within one of the most beautiful English cathedrals. For art students, it would be something valuable to put on their CV.

The minimum age is 18 years old, unless accompanied by an adult. WAC is happy to ensure friends have the same time slots if required.

For more information or to sign up for a time slot, contact Paddy at [email protected] or telephone 01749 670626 or 07738 621705.

The deadline for artists to submit entries to WAC is Wednesday, May 15, at 5pm. Applications must be made online via www.wac.artopps.co.uk
