The reopening of Tramways remains uncertain following a fire that broke out on April 30th.

Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus and hose reels tackled the blaze, which initially started in the bar area and quickly spread to the roof. As the fire intensified, additional resources were called in, with a total of four pumps eventually on site to control the flames.

The Tramways committee has expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of community support in the aftermath of the incident. In a recent Facebook update, the committee stated: "We would like to thank everyone for their patience. At the moment, we have no further information as we are still waiting on the decision from the insurance companies. Once we know the outcome, we can move forward to refurbish the club and will keep everyone informed as and when we have more information. We are just waiting for insurers to do what they need to do before we can let you all know any information and a timescale on when we will reopen."

The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service reported that the exact cause of the fire could not be determined.
