Nights, tights and geo-sights: Wells jobs this week

Job hunting in Wells this week? Whether you're just nosing for something better than your current commute or you're flat-out broke and staring at a dwindling milk supply, we've got you. There's a real pick-n-mix of jobs on the board: care roles, construction shifts, classroom gigs and a bit of bin lorry glamour. Dive in.
First up, if your natural circadian rhythm is set to "owl", there's a Night Site Manager gig going for a 13-week retail refurb project. It's £280 a night in Wells, Sunday to Thursday, with your days mercifully free. Supermarket experience helps, as does having all the acronyms (CSCS, SMSTS, PPE, ABC etc.). Starts 11th August.
Over in Ditcheat, Veolia wants an HGV Class 2 Driver to start their shifts at the eye-watering hour of 4am. It's £39,835 a year, plus meal and bin-lifting bonuses, and you'll be done by early afternoon. Permanent gig with perks and a surprising amount of pride in the bin game. Bring your CPC and your best radio voice.

For anyone qualified but not up for the long haul, Wells needs Electricians and Mates/Improvers for a commercial refurb. It's temporary work until October, paying up to £27/hour CIS for sparkies and £22 for mates. ECS or CSCS cards required. Expect 40-42 hours a week and lots of fluorescent lighting.
Got a geography degree, QTS and a fondness for fieldwork? A well-known Wells school is after a Geography Teacher from September. It's a permanent post with solid support for ECTs, real-world learning emphasis, and plenty of map chat. Field trips included, bonus points if you own a cagoule.
Fancy a science-adjacent desk job with boots-on-ground options? A small Somerset firm is hiring a Graduate Geoenvironmental Consultant. £30k a year, with perks like early finish Fridays, cake-based morale boosts, and proper mentorship. Ideal if you like soil, risk matrices, and not being a faceless drone.

Meanwhile, care homes in Wells are in hiring mode. There's a Care Assistant role and a Night Care Assistant, both at £14.20 an hour and permanent. Experience with older folks and a warm cuppa-carrying hand encouraged.
Stepping up slightly, there's also a Senior Night Carer position for NVQ Level 3 folk who can lead a team, sort meds and still have time for a kind word. Pays £14.67/hour with long service awards and all the usual Barchester perks.
Not keen on personal care but happy with a mop? There's a Housekeeping Assistant role going bank-style (as and when needed) at the same Wells care home. £14.29/hour, flexible shifts, and full training provided. Bonus if you're the sort who enjoys the smell of bleach in the morning.
And finally, if agency work is more your flavour, there's a Healthcare Assistant role floating across residential and nursing homes in Somerset. £14.01/hour with weekly pay and flexible shifts. Must have 6 months' experience and a working relationship with hoists.
Still nothing quite right? There's more where that came from on the Wells Nub News jobs board. Go on, give it a scroll.
