There are isolated and disabled people in care homes who would be grateful for a tablet to help them keep in touch with relatives.

So Wells Coronavirus Network (WCN) asked our volunteers if they or someone they knew had an old tablet that was no longer needed.

The first three which arrived were donated to Mellifont Abbey Care Home in Wookey today (May 14).

"This is really great," said the home's assistant manager Christine Blair.

"The tablets will make such a difference for families who will be able to see their loved ones are well in our care."

WCN are grateful to Richard Boulos of Wellscope Computers at Keward Park off the Glastonbury Road who checked the workings of the tablets and removed the personal data before they were donated.

The tablets were taken to Melllifont Abbey by WCN volunteer Elinor Clare who said: "My mother died in a care home in November so I know the importance of residents being able to see their family."
