Man dies at the wheel after medical emergency in Wells

A man died after a medical episode while driving in Wells.

A man has died after suffering a medical episode while driving in Wells, prompting a large emergency response.

Avon and Somerset Police were called to Tucker Street, near the Tramways Club, at around 1.15pm on Saturday, 8 February, following concerns for a motorist's welfare. Paramedics from South Western Ambulance Service also attended, and the road was temporarily closed to traffic.

Despite efforts from emergency services, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers attended an incident at a car park in Tucker Street, Wells, after a motorist experienced a medical episode. Paramedics attended, but sadly the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. Our thoughts are with his next of kin, who have been updated. A file will be completed for the coroner."
