Local Choreographer Celebrates Award Success!

By Tom Creswick   3rd Dec 2025

A local theatre company is celebrating success this week, as one of its choreographers won the top award at a recent regional awards ceremony.

Elisha Creswick (formally Webster) has won best choreography at the 2025 Rose Bowl Awards for her work with Wells Operatic Society, more commonly known as Wells Little Theatre, and their sell-out musical production of Roger's and Hammerstein's 'Carousel' earlier this spring. The show was nominated for several awards, including Sarah Campbell for Best Actress in a supporting role, and the biggest award of the night, The Bristol Post Awards for 'Best Musical Production'. Jo Crozier-Cole was also nominated for Best Actress in a lead role for her portrayal of Edith Taylor in their March Play, 'Equally Divided.'

The Rose Bowl Awards, presented annually since 1963, are open to any amateur dramatic or operatic club in Bristol and the surrounding area, including Devon, Gloucestershire, Somerset, South Wales and Wiltshire. Award winners are nominated by a panel of adjudicators who are chosen for their extensive qualifications and experience in the amateur and professional theatre, either through performing or teaching.

A spokesperson for the theatre says "We are so proud of Elisha for winning this award. Carousel is a challenging show and she did an amazing job moving such a large cast around on our small stage. She is very deserving of this award, which we're sure will be the first of many for her.

"We are also proud of everyone involved in the production for receiving a 'Best Production' nomination. To be one of 6 productions nominated for this award, considering the quality and size of shows put on in the South West is testament to everyone involved.

"We are so pleased to be putting our Little Theatre on the map, and want to thank our wonderful community for their continued support of our productions."

You can watch Wells Little Theatres next production in just a few weeks, as they are performing in 'Sleeping Beauty', a tradition family pantomime, from 13th - 20th December. Tickets are available by visiting www.wellslittletheatre.com.
