Jobs in Wells: Night shifts, nuts and bolts, and the odd recycling truck

If your idea of job hunting involves browsing in pyjamas and quietly judging salary ranges, you're in luck. Wells has rolled out another week of solid, if oddly themed, vacancies—mostly night work, heavy machinery, and care shifts. Throw in some parcel runs and a bit of retail security, and you've got your bases covered.
Veolia is recruiting for an HGV Class 2 Driver to manage waste collection with OTE up to £49,835, which may or may not include emotional hazard pay. Alternatively, you could become a Shunter Fueller, moving buses around a depot at £12.50/hour (PCV licence needed, nerves of steel preferred). Or join the freelance hustle delivering parcels for a big-name retailer as a Delivery Driver — bring your own van and earn £180 a day plus mileage. If nothing else, you'll know the back roads like a sat nav by Christmas.

Wells is really leaning into night-time care shifts this week. Somerset Care wants a Night Team Leader at £14.25/hour to lead overnight support. There's also a Senior Night Carer post going at around £15.54/hour, plus Bank Senior Carer shifts to fill. Prefer your care in daylight? The Care Assistant role might suit better—training provided, £14.20/hour, and likely fewer complaints about cold tea.
An Assistant Fast Fit Manager is wanted at an automotive centre. Salary's around £34k plus bonuses, and it's a mix of staff wrangling, workflow management, and making sure customers don't bolt before their tyres do. For those who prefer spanners to spreadsheets, a Maintenance Engineer role in packaging/manufacturing is going for a cool £52k. Strong electrical skills required; strong tea optional.

There's a Retail Security Officer post that needs someone with an SIA licence and a firm glare. And if you don't mind a bit of machinery and matching parts to diagrams, a local manufacturer near East Horrington is hiring Production Operatives. Expect targets, tidy workspaces, and occasional swearing at a conveyor belt.
More where that came from on the Wells Nub News jobs board. Whether you're in it for the money, the mission, or just a new manager, it's worth a scroll.
