By Laura Linham 13th Sep 2025

Wells offers diverse job opportunities this week in care, delivery, engineering, and production.
Wells offers diverse job opportunities this week in care, delivery, engineering, and production.

If you're on the hunt for work in Wells – or just curious what's out there – this week's mix is a reassuring one. Care homes are looking for committed staff, there's reliable delivery work, and a couple of engineering and production roles to keep things varied.

It's the kind of list that shows how much the everyday jobs matter, and how many different ways there are to earn a wage locally.

Starting with deliveries, C&W Transport needs a Delivery Driver. It's parcel runs for a major online retailer, with flexible shifts, paid training and mileage reimbursement. A practical option if you like independence, driving, and knowing the backroads of Wells better than your sat-nav.

Care homes are also recruiting in earnest. A local residential home is offering a Senior Carer (Bank) role – leading shifts, managing medication and supporting the team. NVQ Level 3 is required, and it's a role where your leadership really makes a difference. There's also a Permanent Senior Carer position if you'd prefer a stable, long-term contract.

If weekends suit you better, there's a Production Operative job in ready-meal manufacturing. It's focused on quality checks and production line work, with pay between £12.88 and £15.65 an hour. A good fit if you want reliable hours and steady earnings.

Back to care, there's a permanent Care Assistant post at £14.20 an hour, offering vital daily support and companionship. Or, if flexibility works better, there are Bank Care Assistant roles available – ideal if you'd like to pick up shifts that fit around your life.

For skilled trades, an FMCG site is looking for a Maintenance Engineer. The salary is around £52k, with day and night shifts. It's a key role in keeping operations running smoothly, and one that rewards experience.

There's also a chance for night workers to step up as a Senior Night Carer. It's a leadership role where NVQ Level 3 is required, supporting both residents and the team through the night.

For those with an eye for detail and strong organisational skills, there's a Deputy Manager job. It's about supporting the manager, carrying out audits and ensuring standards are high – the kind of role that keeps a care home running at its best.

And finally, if your strengths lie in keeping things welcoming and orderly, there's a Housekeeping Assistant role. Training is included, and it's a chance to be part of a team that makes a real difference in residents' daily comfort.

That's the round-up this week: steady, important work across care, delivery, engineering and production. If none of these fit quite right, the Nub News jobs board has plenty more local opportunities waiting.
