The Environment Agency is responding to pollution that is affecting a 15km stretch of the River Sheppey.

The pollution was reported on Saturday morning and environment officers are continuing to work to confirm the source.

The pollution, which turns water milky grey, will need to pass through before a fish survey can be carried out, due to discolouration.

Staff are attempting to restore the dissolved oxygen levels of the river in the lower end of the River Sheppey with aeration equipment.
