Harriet Sandys is sadly closing down after years of providing the Shepton Mallet community with exquisite carpets, kilims, and unique decorative items.

The store has revealed a series of sales taking place over the next few months, providing locals with a final opportunity to acquire some truly unique pieces.

Harriet Sandys is renowned for its distinctive collection, which includes Persian rugs, runners, carpets, and a range of decorative items from Central Asia and India. The store has announced a closing down sale featuring items from its collection at discounted rates. Customers can avail of a 10% discount on Persian rugs, runners and carpets, among other special offers.

The sale will take place at The Barn at The Manor House, located in West Compton, Shepton Mallet, Somerset BA4 4PB. The store will open its doors on several dates:

• Wednesday 18th to Saturday 21st October, 2pm-5pm
• Saturday 28th to Saturday 4th November, 2pm-5pm
• Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd December, 2pm-5pm
• Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th December, 2pm-5pm
• Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th December, 2pm-5pm

In addition to the Persian rugs and carpets, the store will also offer Indian cotton tops and kaftans, Kantha jackets, children's animal bed quilts, Indian cotton nighties, pyjamas and kimono-style dressing gowns. There will also be an assortment of knitted hats, hand warmers from Nepal, and gold and silver jewellery from Rajasthan. Beautiful hand-painted birds on 100-year-old paper, and an array of small "Fair Trade" gifts and stocking fillers will also be on sale.

For those interested in supporting a charitable cause while shopping, a percentage of the sale proceeds will go to AfghanAid, a UK charity providing aid and support in Afghanistan.
