After initially being delayed to September, the Godney Gathering 2020 has now been postponed to 2021 - but performers booked for the event have committed to the dates for next year.

The two-day festival was initially due to take place in July, but in March it was postponed to September in the hope the impact of the coronavirus crisis would have eased.

However, in a statement released today (May 23), the event organisers admit that it would not have been possible to run the event in September and have now confirmed the next Godney Gathering will take place in July 2021.

The statement said: "It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the postponement of Godney 2020 this September.

"Over the past few weeks, we've been working to bring you our 10th anniversary, but ultimately, the health and safety of all of you is our priority.

"We had been hoping for clear guidance from the UK government, and it seems that things won't be much better in September.

"Out 10-year anniversary will now take place on July 16 and 17 2021. We are extremely proud to announce that all of the artists confirmed for the 2020 event will be playing in 2021 instead.

"This we could not have done without the fantastic support from the artists, agents and managers, and we look forward to welcoming them all to Godney 2021.

"We're also happy to announce that all tickets will remain valid for 2021, and automatically roll over to next year.

"There is nothing you need to do. Should you have any questions, please do email us at [email protected], but do be aware that our team are volunteers, many working day jobs as full-time key workers, so there may be a slight delay in a response."

The organisers have also confirmed that camping bookings have been automatically transferred, but if anyone has any questions about their pitch, they can get in touch with the campsite team via the event website.

The organisers went on to say: "We know this is a difficult time for everyone at the moment, and Godney was something you were all looking forward to.

"Out team pour their hearts and soul in to Godney every year, from admin staff to site builders and stewards.

"This is not a decision that we have made lightly and can only apologise for the inconvenience. Your support in Godney is instrumental in our drive to push bigger and better every year.

"We are excited to look to the future of Godney and hope to welcome each one of you through our gates next July."
