Thousands of music fans have started pouring into Worthy Farm as the gates to this year's Glastonbury Festival opened.

Organisers Emily Eavis and Sir Michael Eavis counted down to the big moment as a brass band played and campers streamed in, despite the official opening not until later tonight.

Headliners for the five‑day event include The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo, while Sir Rod Stewart will take the Sunday 'legends' slot — with a special guest spot for former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood. The veteran singer's set comes after he postponed a run of US gigs due to illness.

"Opening the gates is one of my favourite moments of the weekend," Emily Eavis told BBC Radio 6 Music. "It's all about seeing the people and knowing this is what it's for."

Forecasters have warned of mixed conditions across the site this week, with sunny spells and scattered showers expected throughout Wednesday.

The festivities officially kick off tonight at 10pm with a circus and theatre spectacular in the Pyramid Arena, finishing with a fireworks display.
