Wells SOUP will bound back with a summer smile on Saturday June 13 after welcoming a record number of people at spring's fundraising lunch.

The four good causes who will be telling their stories from 1pm at this grant-giving lunch in Wells Cathedral are:

· Edric Hobbs who will attempt to cycle the equivalent height if Mouth Everest by riding the Old Bristol Road between Wells and Priddy 47 times. Funds will provide a defibrillator for Wells Town Hall in memory of former Mayor of Wells Tony Robbins and a cabinet for the one at Hunters Lodge, Priddy.

· Focus Wells has been offering affordable counselling to the local community since 1999 supporting people between the ages of 13-19. No referral is needed - young people can chat with a qualified counsellor in a safe and confidential space.

· The Grand Organ Appeal is a major fundraiser by the Friends of Wells Cathedral to restore the Grand Organ, which is ageing and at risk of failure. The project aims to raise around £2 million towards a full restoration, while preserving its historic character.

· Westbury Footlights produce and perform plays, revues and pantomimes for those in and around Westbury-sub-Mendip. They are raising funds to support an outdoor performance of As You Like It by bicycle touring company,The Handlebars.

The sponsor for this SOUP are estate agents Cooper & Tanner who have been in Wells for more than 35 years.

"We love to support the community which SOUP does in a unique way," said their Branch Manager Sam Masters who has worked there since 2012.

"SOUP is like a local version of Dragon's Den – but much, much gentler. Putting good causes in front of local people who want to help, and they do."

For a good seat arrive by 12.40pm on Saturday June 13. Donation entry is £7, which includes choices of homemade soup and bread prepared by chefs from Fresh & Good.

All the four presenters will go away with more money than at previous SOUPs and a raised profile after the audience votes.
