Four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Wells last night (September 21).

At just after 8.30pm, the fire service received a call from Avon and Somerset Police advising that there had been a road traffic collision in Glastonbury Road, Wells, where one vehicle had rolled and the driver remained trapped within the vehicle.

Fire engines from Wells and Glastonbury were mobilised, along with a Heavy Rescue Vehicle from Glastonbury, and arrived on scene shortly afterwards.

Fire crews were able to confirm that this incident involved two vehicles and a male was trapped in his vehicle by his feet.

Crews quickly got to work with stabilisation and heavy rescue equipment to remove the side of one of the vehicles.

Once the side of the vehicle was removed, crews were able to safely release the male's feet and he then self-extricated against the advice given to him by the fire service.

As well as the trapped male, there were three other walking wounded casualties. All casualties were left in the care of the ambulance service.
