This half-term, Wells Cathedral invites families to engage in a peaceful and creative endeavour titled "Peace and Harmony", running from Tuesday 28 to Thursday 30 May 2024.

The event, set in the cathedral's Education Room, offers activities from 10 am to 3 pm daily, encouraging children to participate in activities that foster creativity and tranquillity.

Tuesday's activities kick off with "Build a Dove", where children can construct a dove toy with moveable wings and engage in painting using fingerprints. On Wednesday, the focus shifts to "Birds on the Wing", inspired by local artist Caroline Byrne, where participants can create unique bird art. The series wraps up on Thursday with "Sensory Play and Mindful Crafts", offering activities like crafting windmills, designed to soothe and engage young minds.

Before each session, children are encouraged to pick up a free Activity Sheet and explore themes of peace as they wander beneath the stunning installation of thousands of paper doves in the Cathedral Nave. They are also invited to write messages to hang on the Peace Tree and go bird spotting in Caroline Byrne's exhibition.

In addition to these structured activities, the cathedral introduces its new 'Explorer Backpacks', available for loan from the Welcome Desk. These backpacks are equipped with maps, activity cards, and sensory tools tailored to help young explorers engage with various cathedral features like the historic clock, providing a tactile and interactive experience.

Family holiday activities at Wells Cathedral are free with adult admission and require no prior booking.
