Entertain for Ukraine

An entertainment extravaganza to raise funds for the people of Ukraine is being held in Wells next month.

Organiser Tina Blackwill said, "I, like everyone else, have been watching the news in complete shock and disbelief. The trauma , loss, despair and hopelessness those poor people in Ukraine must be feeling is just terrible.

"I find it hard to comprehend how it must feel to leave behind everything you've worked for and everything you know – including family members – and flee to another country not knowing if you will ever be able to return.

"I wanted to do something to try to help, so I decided to organise this evening of entertainment to raise some much needed money for the Ukrainian Red Cross."

The show will be opened by town crier Len Sweales and there are a whole host of acts already confirmed, including Shepton Mallet Ukulele Group, Beside The Gray, Hetta Falzon, Dance Fusion Wells, Sarah Stott, Georgina Sweet, Shepton Mallet Gymnastics Club and Kodie McCall – with more in the pipeline.

There will be a bar, a raffle and free class of fizz on arrival.

"I'm hoping the whole of Wells will come together and support this amazing charity evening," added Tina. "Come on people of Wells, come and have a fabulous evening of entertainment and let's raise as much money as we can for the people of the Ukraine!"

The Entertainment Extravaganza will be held in the ballroom of Wells Town Hall on Saturday, May 21. The evening begins at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased from Wells Town Hall or from Tina at [email protected] or 07450 367805.
