An election has been called in the St Thomas Ward of Wells City Council following the resignation of two councillors.

Tony Robbins and Andrew Fawcett have both left the council, and enough signatures have been provided for Mendip District Council to hold an election for their seats, rather than the positions be filled by co-option.

If, as expected, candidates come forward to contest the two St Thomas Ward seats, the election for both will take place on Friday February 7.

Anyone wishing to stand has to submit their nomination to Mendip District Council by 4pm on Monday January 13.
