The inaugural Active Travel Day, scheduled for Saturday, 18 October, promises a robust slate of events centred on cycling, walking, bus transport, and enhancing accessibility.
The event will manifest as a family-friendly gathering offering a variety of activities, music, and culinary delights at Wells Barn and Recreation Ground.
Participants can engage in a cycling event along the scenic Strawberry Line, with assembly at Morrisons at 11:15 AM, or test their skills on a pop-up skateboard ramp.
The day will also feature live performances by the Wells and Shepton Bands and Sounds Joyful at the Bandstand. Furthermore, attendees can meet with representatives from the Strawberry Line Association, Accessible Wells, and the Wells Bus Users. Practical demonstrations and advice on bike repairs will also be available.
For those seeking additional services, the Mendip Neighbourhood Police team will offer cycle security marking. This event has been made possible by the dedicated efforts of organizers from St Cuthberts Out Parish, with financial support from the SALC Community Health and Wellbeing initiative.
