Somerset drivers are alerted to A371 closures for resurfacing on 30 and 31 August.

Drivers in Wells and St Cuthbert Out are being warned of temporary road closures later this month as Somerset Highways carries out resurfacing works on the A371.

The closures will take place on Saturday 30 August and Sunday 31 August, between 6am and midday, and will cover Easton Hill and Haybridge Hill for a total stretch of 2,445 metres.

The affected sections are:

  • A371 Portway / Haybridge Hill, from the junction with B3139 Elm Close to the Haybridge Inn – 440 metres.
  • A371 Portway, from the junction with B3139 Elm Close to outside number 38 Portway – 770 metres.

The work, carried out by contractors Kiley Bros on behalf of Somerset Highways, will include prep work, surface dressing, the application of Kiely Lock and associated tasks such as stud renewal and road lining.

Although the closure order allows for an 18-month period, the phased works on this stretch are expected to last for just one day within that window. The road will be reopened whenever work is not taking place.

Diversion routes will be signposted, and for more information, residents can contact Kiley Bros on 0121 772 3800, quoting reference WA29/0425 - SD001069.
